Peter Wakefield

Associate Consultant

He/Him

Peter is an experienced professional with twenty years’ expertise in the measurement, education and linkage between employee engagement and business performance. He has built organisational development, learning and development, cultural change and service strategies within the private, public, and third sectors.

Peter uses his experience to measure, challenge and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviour of managers, leaders and organisations to create conversation, build trust and drive engagement and change. This ensures the relationships you have with your employees, stakeholders and customers deliver their potential.

Background
Peter’s background is in retail, initially as a student, progressing to senior operational management roles for an international retailer before moving into both, project based and generalist HR and Organisational Development roles at a senior level in various sectors. He now uses the experience he’s gained ‘standing in the shoes’ of both operations and OD to combine to deliver behavioural, cultural and performance change.

Style
Peter doesn’t look to develop ‘employees’ but to develop ‘people’. He believes that the key to creating successful, engaging and sustainable change is to support both individuals and organisations to find the skills, knowledge and confidence to take the ‘employee’ out and put the ‘person’ back in.

Qualifications
Peter is an associate lecturer at Birkbeck College, at the University of London, and teach all intakes of both their ‘MSc HRD & Consultancy’ and ‘MSc HRM’ courses in ‘Employee engagement’ and its impact on HR strategy and business performance.

He is also a chartered member of the institute of personnel and development (MCIPD), has an ILM level 7 qualification in executive leadership coaching and mentoring and a level one master’s in business administration from the open university (MBA).
