I had a wonderful week, last week. Once again, I got a chance to I travel to Warsaw to work with a client on a leadership programme. The group were engaged, receptive and curious, so life was made easy for me. We discussed all of the normal topics, the challenges of modern day leadership and how to get the best from, an ever growing, diverse group of people.Things are tougher now, as a leader, but also as an employee. The two sides of the coin are an interesting place to begin any journey. How is it for me and how is it for others? This brings a colourful and complicated response, at times.
As Trump divides the world and Putin strives to continue his quest, the world has become surreal. What is the point of even bothering about trying to be your best, when the leaders in the world can’t do the basic fundamental task of looking after ‘their’ people. A self-centred, self interest approach exists and permeates all Countries. Our UK leaders are focussed on ‘feathering their own nests’ making decisions that benefit the rich, their favourites and the influential. Building powerful networks of like minded, greedy industries and organisations. Taxes go up for the majority and profits are distributed to those that have more than enough already!
But, apart from that, life is wonderful! 😎. As I am unable to control any of these things and I don’t want to spend time in that space, I am looking at, and am appreciating what life gives me, my family and friends. I am still planning trips away, looking to experience more of the world and the beautiful places it has to offer. I love spending time at home and even enjoy the challenges that offers – it keeps me busy!
Judge Frank Caprio, known as “the nicest judge in America,” is embracing his final years with a mission to inspire. His simple yet powerful message—be kind, respectful, and empathetic—has profoundly impacted the lives of many who have stood before him in court. Through his compassion, he continues to remind us that small acts of kindness can leave a lasting legacy. Leadership is not difficult, although people are complex, they need to be understood, listened to and have their, basic, needs met. So, why do our leaders do the opposite?
Watching the news frustrates me, so I don’t do too much of it. Exercise livens me up, so I do that! I make choices that add value, to my life and plan on enjoying as much as I can.
What do you do to keep positive and happy?
