Today is my first day back after a holiday with my family. We went to Antalya, in Turkey, for a week and it was fantastic. I’d definitely recommend the Akra Hotel as a venue it was perfect for what we wanted, this year!

I say “This year” because normally we would book a hotel that had a pool with activities such as, volleyball, water polo, darts and even bingo to keep everyone active / entertained, but this year we decided we didn’t need that. Our ‘kids’ are no longer of an age where they need entertaining and they can do their own thing, if they want to or if they get bored sitting by the pool.

It was really nice to have time to talk and connect together as sometimes, at home, everyone is busy and we are, quite often, like passing ships. We all met for breakfast and dinner most nights and went out together every night. We spent a day on a boat trip, the relaxing type, not the busy loud boozy one (Oh how things have changed!) which was nice to do something other than relaxing reading a book.

We played some tennis and went to the gym and did some sea swimming, most days, and we spent a lot of time sunbathing and relaxing. What a perfect way to spend a week.

Now, it’s back to work, which I like as well. It’s good to get time away but it’s also good to get back and to get stuck into things, pick up loose ends and connect, in a business sense, again. Getting the balance right is so important because, as you all know, too much of a good thing, is not good for you.

It would be easy to get a bit lazy, especially as the sun is out in the UK now as well, and take a slow start to the week. I did plan my return to work well and only have ‘admin’ jobs to do this week, no workshops to prepare for or deliver, which has taken the pressure off, but I’m back and being busy.

I did spend a little time, whilst I was on holiday, answering a couple of emails and sending information to people, but that was only because my business partner was going on holiday, which overlapped with my holiday, so I needed to do some things and so did he.

How do you get the ‘balance of life’ right for you? Are there areas you need to work on?

I hope, on your holidays, you get the chance to decompress, reconnect, laugh, drink, eat and live life to the full with people you like and love! It’s the best thing ever….

I’m looking at dates already for the family holiday for next year, just to ensure we all get the time off, as this time together, is priceless ❤️.
