MM482

After missing the MM last week, due to loads of different reasons, I decided that, now and then, it’s ok to not cross something off the ‘to do’ list. Other things did get completed and I think I got my priorities in order, just!

My Sunday’s seem to be a little busier than normal recently and last weekend was hectic, in a good way. My Daughter came home for the weekend so we went for a run together on the Saturday morning and then watched my Son play football in the afternoon. On the Sunday we all went to watch my Son run the Bournemouth half marathon (His first one) and then had a drink at ‘Hot Rocks’ near the beach. It was a nice sunny weekend and I really enjoyed spending time with the family, forgetting any work related tasks.

This weekend, we had one of our grandchildren here and the time was spent just enjoying being together. This was followed by a visit to my Father-in-law for a swift pint on the Sunday, which was great as we haven’t seen him for a couple of weeks. So I am just doing other things, at the moment.

I think that, a lot of people my age are experiencing a shift in priorities, when it comes to the subject of  balancing life, or even unbalancing things in a different way and making different choices. One of my friends has just retired from a high pressure job after 30+ years and she is busier now than ever before, but doing all the things she couldn’t do whilst she was working. Fortunately, she is young enough and healthy enough to still do them which can’t be said for the generations before us.

I remember people retiring and, near enough, going straight in to retirement homes to slow down and die. That is not how I want to do things and, my generation, (I think I can speak for us all) want to go out ‘in a blaze of glory’.

I am building next years goals already, planning trips away, holidays, events and, of course, identifying how to pay for it all 😃. It gives me something to look forward to every month and it makes the tough weeks worth while. Everything seems to be about the experience now. I don’t want a new car, bigger house or fancy ‘toy’ anymore, I just want to enjoy life.

Steve Jobs was, supposedly, have said to make many quotes on death. It’s worth a read, just in case you are focusing on the ‘small stuff’ too much. Click the link to take you to the page: https://deeperfreedom.com/steve-jobs-quotes-on-death/

I hope you have a great week and there are some experiences that highlight the beauty of your life.
