After a nice weekend, I am looking forward to getting some things loaded on to and checked off of my to do list.

I don’t know about you but my ‘to do lists’ have changed massively. It now includes things like:

  • Go for a walk and enjoy nature
  • Do some meditation / breathing exercises
  • Take an hour to read / watch an episode / exercise
  • Do some emails and check in with people
  • Have a power nap
  • Make some calls
  • Take another hour to read / watch another episode / exercise
  • Wrap up loose ends

I am sure that my lists will, eventually, change back and include more work related things, as and when we are allowed face to face meetings and work again, but, there are some changes that I don’t want to revert back. Like many other people, I have enjoyed some aspects of the restrictions and feel like I value my time with family more. Also, I love how we have used technology to replace long drives for short meetings, this is something I will continue to do.

I still, however, need structure to my day and I do need to have things to do. It makes me feel better when I have checked off tasks during the day that have been achieved. A small sense of satisfaction is good for the soul.

Today I have emails to send, people to contact and a presentation to design. Not a big workload, but enough to keep me busy and, if I add a few of the items in (from the list above) it will have been a productive day. Also, my wife is off this week so a few more walks are being planned, which is something we are really enjoying more than ever before.

How are you keeping busy? What gives you a sense of satisfaction and how are you keeping mentally refreshed?

If you lose your purpose from time to time, that’s ok. The important thing is to set yourself a few tasks to get you going again. A small thing that makes you feel good, here are a few suggestions:

  • Plant something in your garden
  • Write someone a letter and post it to them
  • Clean all of your shoes
  • Sort out a cupboard
  • Bake a cake for someone else (in your bubble)

Nothing too strenuous but small achievements that will make you feel good and get you going again.
