With, potentially, tough times ahead again it’s a good time to prepare for a bit of a rollercoaster ride. I hope the’ ups’ are brilliant and ‘downs’ are not too extreme for anyone.
The next few months will be interesting and challenging and there will be frustration and anger because of the decisions being made, that we can’t control. Local lock downs are becoming normal but are having the desired effect. People are, mainly, following the rules so I do see an end in sight.
What I do like about this situation is the way businesses and people are supporting each other. Companies sharing ideas and solving problems together, Countries sharing best practise and also explaining mistakes so everyone can learn. It has been collaborative rush to get through this and find a vaccine, which I hope will be soon.
I certainly miss going to work and having the face-to-face interaction with my clients and, although we have stayed in contact via online platforms, I would like to get out and see people again.
I was speaking to my neighbour recently and he mentioned what he had been doing over the weekend. He told me about the walks he had been on and local places he had visited. He said he didn’t realise how beautiful this part of the world is. I found that intriguing and wondered how many other people have suddenly ‘woken up’ and opened their eyes to see and appreciate the beauty around them.
We have been so busy ‘doing life’ that we have forgotten how to live life. I certainly take more time to reflect, observe and enjoy simple things. I sit by the beach and just watch the world go by, take deep breaths and relax in the moment, something I would never really have had time for in the past.
I know it sounds corny, but it’s true, I’m enjoying my family time more than ever. I appreciate having family close by so I can pop in for a coffee or chat.
At the weekend I went, with my wife, to put some flowers at a friends grave and while I was there I looked at a few head stones. Most people had had long lives but there were a few that hadn’t. I wondered who had, had the best life though!
You can live a long life but what’s the point if it’s not your best life? We need to make the most of our situation and do things to build memories and appreciate the things we normally don’t even notice.
The beautiful, simple things in life are often free to everyone….
