There is a light at the end of the tunnel – fantastic. This is not the first time I have heard this in my life and I am sure it is the same for you. Throughout my life there have been dark moments and someone, close to me, would have used that statement. It is true, but it is tough to focus on the light when there is darkness all around you.
I understand that everyone is in a different place, in the tunnel, when it comes to our current situation. For some the light is in sight and, for others, they are on the long bend of the tunnel, anxious for a glimmer of light to hold on to, it depends on your industry, the set-up of your business, and, your personal circumstances.
We certainly have some recovery to do and, although there have been some fantastic examples of community spirit, to support each other, the tough work is ahead of us. The need to help each other is stronger as we exit lock down and start to build this great world back up again. We need to take the lessons learnt, with us, to make it even better than it was.
I think the message is still “Stay Home”, if you can, and for me and my family, the next 3 weeks will be much the same as the last 2 months. We will “Stay Safe” and keep mindful of social distancing and the hand washing regime, we have developed, will continue.
I do feel we are moving in the right direction and ‘fingers crossed’ a second spike does not happen. So, for me, the planning to get back to normal is starting, but I am also aware that we need to do it in a way that keeps me, and my family, safe and well. I am going to write off our family holiday this year and possibly look for a short break in the UK at some point instead, but that is fine, we will make it up next year.
This is a time where community spirit is paramount, who do you need to contact and ‘check in’ with?
I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel for you and your family.
