Wow, what a storm! Ciara certainly blew the cobwebs away over the weekend. Knowing that the storm was coming and how severe it would be, was really helpful. I secured things in the back garden, checked shed doors and garden gates to ensure they wouldn’t get damaged or keep us awake at night, banging around!

I planned a bike ride on the Saturday, after checking a weather app, to make sure it was safe to ride. Sunday was also planned, knowing the weather would be awful, a slow trip to IKEA, in Southampton, and then back home to sit in front of the TV and watch some sport – perfect.

We have so much information available to us, it’s amazing that we still get caught out, although, there are some things we still can’t predict, such as trees falling and unexpected floods happening without notice, but, before you know it, everything returns to normal, the wind dies down, the rain stops and the sun shines. What a contrast in only 48 hours.

I think the weather reflects life, sometimes.

  • One minute it feels like everything is against you and the next everything is going your way.
  • Sometimes you hit all the red lights and, then, it’s green all the way!
  • Years of no progression followed by accelerated success
  • Heartache and pain followed by love and affection

As extreme as those examples are, we have all been at one end or the other, at some point in our lives. The good news is, just like storm Ciara, it that things do eventually change.

As an example: If you are feeling pressured, have no money or are feeling unloved, be very aware that life is like the weather, it can change at a moments notice.

Some tips to weather the storm:

  • Stay positive
  • Look for opportunities and prepare for any foreseeable challenges
  • Be aware of slight changes in the climate and react accordingly
  • If what you are doing is not working,  change what you are doing!
  • Speak to people – someone else has been there before, and, has a success story
  • Remember you are never alone

When you look back at some of the devastation, left by storms or life, you will notice that, as soon as it has past, peace and calm returns,  repair and growth begins and the sun does eventually shine.
