After delivering my final session for the year, last week, I am now into a different type of ‘productivity mode’. It’s time to catch up with the admin and round off the year, whilst ensuring we have plans to start the New Year strong. It’s also time to celebrate 2019.
Running a small business is so rewarding but can also be a constant source of pressure, with multiple ‘hats’ to wear. Sales, marketing, accounting, strategic planning, resource management, product development and delivery are things that are normally done, in big businesses, by a specific team of experts. In a small business, we all chip in!
This year I have felt that the team has worked well together and it has felt more aligned. My business partner (Mark) has been amazing. His focus and commitment to building the business has been fantastic. I feel we have worked so well together and I am grateful to have him as a business partner.
I probably don’t tell him, often enough, that I appreciate all he does so (I know he reads this) – thank you mate, for all your hard work, in a tough year.
This time of year does lend itself to a bit of reflection, not only with the business but also life. I love life at the moment, it’s not perfect, but it is great. I am appreciative of my family and friends, our lifestyle and for what we do have. So many other people do not have, what we would call ‘the basics in life’, so what do I have to moan about?
There are people who are homeless, hungry, cold, scared and some who live in a war zones, so I really, really can’t complain about my life, even though, I have had a moan in the past when things have been tough, I am human, after all…
With the festive season upon us, what are you looking forward to? What are you grateful for?
I have a quieter Christmas planned but, as my children are getting older and they may want to do their own thing next year, I want to make sure it is special, happy and memorable. I’m not sure how I’m going to manage that but I am thinking of doing something that surprises the family, in some positive way.
I’d imagine that most of you only have a few more days to do before your holiday begins, so, have a fun Christmas, enjoy your time together and remember – be patient, calm and happy!
