So we are finally in December and I must admit, I am looking forward to the Christmas break. This year has been an interesting one for me and I have never said this, about any previous year before, but “I will be glad to see the back of 2019”

Even though we did so much, achieved many of the goals, we’d set, and spent some great time with my family, there were some things that just took the wind out of my sails. Stuff I wasn’t expecting and was certainly not prepared for.

I am looking forward to making 2020 a year to remember, for the right reasons! I have sat down and planned holidays, short breaks, house improvements and, of course, a challenging event to complete. I am really looking forward to the next year because I have a plan of action to keep me motivated. It looks something like this:

Goals 2020 – Personal Stuff

5 short breaks away

  • Krakow – 27th Feb – 3rd March with Gazza and The Cat – BOOKED and paid✔️
  • TBD – April 13th -17th – to arrange
  • Alicante – 25th – 29th May with Tom and Shelly – Villa BOOKED – need to get flights✔️
  • Llangorse – Wales camping 19th -22nd June – to book
  • Tina & Nik (France) – 24th – 28th July – to book
  • 1 Family holiday – 9th – 19th August 2020 – Turkey – to book

Events planned 2020

  • 1st-6th July

Marmotte Alps – Sunday 5th July – all booked and paid

This gives me a sense of satisfaction and also encourages me to work hard so I can enjoy things as the year unfolds. Constantly having something to look forward to makes the tough days bearable, challenges manageable and any issues ‘short term’.

As I am writing this at Southampton airport, waiting to go to Ireland for 5-days, I am focusing on funding my Christmas and adding to my 2020 holiday pot, to get me through, what will be, a tough week.

I can imagine most of us need, and want to work, but it’s not always the money that gets me inspired, it’s what it allows me to do, that keeps a smile on my face! This is why I get things in the diary quite early on and also the fact that Sandra (my wife) needs to book her days off well in advance to ensure we get the same dates.

What inspires you to get out of bed and go to work? What have you got to look forward to next year and what do you still need to plan?
