How do you feel – right now?
Excited, motivated, focussed or tired, fed up and empty? Monday mornings affect people in different ways. For some people it’s the start to a fantastic week ahead, and for others, it’s not!
In reality, it’s another day in our lives, one to make the most of and enjoy.
I was watching a short ‘motivational’ video on LinkedIn last week and the key message was to enjoy life – it’s not about what you have it’s more about how you live. I know money is important and it ‘greases the wheels’ of life but it can also create emptiness and loneliness, if all you do is chase the next deal and don’t take time to enjoy the journey.
A mate of mine has been fighting cancer for a while and got the all clear, only to find out, on his recent check-up, that it has come back and has spread. The immediate future is loaded with treatments and sickness and the long term future is debatable – who knows? He is one of the most positive people I know, he always has a smile on his face and he lives life to the full. Even as kids, he was always having fun and there was rarely a time we were not laughing together.
You never know what is around the corner and, as much as I think I will live forever, eventually time runs out for us all. I am constantly reflecting and balancing my life. There are times when I just do my own thing and don’t really involve everyone at home with my plans – I can be selfish. Then there are times that I put my things on hold and do other things for other people, so I hope I get the balance right most of the time…
One thing is for sure, life is too short not to enjoy every possible moment.
How often do you have a good old ‘belly’ laugh – like you did as a kid?
Here is a challenge for this week – do something every day that makes you smile or makes someone else smile, check if it makes a difference to you and those around you.
