With the first week under our belt, the dust settled and the routine back in place, I thought I’d share an article that I read last year. It’s called “13 Things you should give up if you want to be successful” (Click here for the article)
I read this and thought it had some good advice to share and I definitely will be following a few of the suggestions.
As with all articles of this nature, it does not guarantee that if you follow all 13 things, you will be successful, after all, what is success?
Not knowing what success is, seems to be a common problem for people. It’s ok moaning about life, or things in your life, but if you don’t know what you do want, it’s down to luck or chance rather than planning, preparation, commitment and action.
For most of us, our measures will be different in some way, shape or form and I think that once we can agree what success is, we can get on with taking steps to achieve it.
As the New Years resolutions start to drift into the back of the mind, the excuses start to happen and the commitment drops away, we settle into BAU, old habits and routines begin to reappear.
‘Comfortable slippers syndrome’ becomes an easy option and our familiar ‘friends’ come back into our lives again. It’s so nice to not do the tough things, it’s pleasurable to take some time off from following the plan so we slowly slip into ‘normal’ behaviour.
Before you know it 2019 is upon us and the cycle begins again!
What do you want to have achieved by this time next year? How would you describe your perfect ending to 2018?
I like all of the 13 suggestions and do most of them, to some degree or another, but I do need to improve on a few if I want certain things to happen. (4, 8 and 13 are a good start to creating a more successful outcome for me!)
How about you?
