MM211

After a horrific week in Manchester followed by senseless killings in London Saturday night, it seems strange to write a MM and try to be upbeat.

My heart goes out to all of the people involved and to all those affected. What has the world come to?

I have just returned from a brief trip to Las Vegas, which, also had some grim sights of homeless people, drug abuse and complete poverty. Not positive at all!

On a brighter note, there were a lot of great things to be thankful for.

As some of you will know, Vegas has some great sights and experiences to indulge in. The casino’s, the IHOP, The Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam, Fremont Street, to name but a few, and these took us into a different, more positive world.

I do like to focus on the positive and spend most of my time searching for the good in life. This doesn’t mean I am not aware of the ‘other’ side of life but I do put things in to perspective. I can’t fix everything and have to pick what to put my effort into. Currently it’s raising my family, protecting them and supporting them. I do my best to ensure they are aware of the risks in life but also aware of all of the good things to experience and get involved with.

It seems that it takes more effort to stay positive when the news is full of pain and sadness, but we do have to try. Every cloud has a silver lining. Manchester is healing and communities are getting stronger, London will continue to fight and “The show will go on” we will get on with our lives.

So keep strong, be positive and search for the good in life. Hold your loved ones tightly, tell them you love them, on a regular basis, and laugh more together, do more together.

Our next thing to look forward to is our family holiday to Croatia. It will probably be the last time we all go together because the kids will want to do their own thing soon. We will make the most of it and have as much fun as possible, we will be sensible too, and it will become a memory that will be in the cloud forever – long after I am gone!

Make some memories and honour those who lost their lives, by enjoying yours.
