MM156

The feedback from last weeks MM was very positive, with many people printing off the 10 tips – thank you for sharing that with me. It does put a smile on my face and makes it all worth while.

I watched Bear Grylls with President Obama last week and found it inspiring and engaging.

I must admit I wouldn’t want Obama’s life for the world as he is restricted in so many ways, and the things I take for granted, he can’t have. He mentions how tight the ‘bubble’ he lives in can be.

He did come across as a genuine person and a normal bloke, which I liked. He also had some top tips about being successful and how to get where you want to get, from his perspective as the President.

Bear asked some great questions and the answers, from Obama, echoed those of past Presidents, business leaders, sports men and women and people who have battled to win their challenge to become successful. They have all experienced success and failure at times but maintained their course and finally succeeded.

The 3 main tips that resonated with me were:

Be resilient and persistent – if you want it bad enough, keep going.
Be steady and hold an even keel – manage the highs and lows and keep your head.
Be useful to someone and kind to everyone – Success will follow

You can tell that Obama is a true role model and has followed his own advice.

A question Bear asked Obama was about the legacy he wanted to leave and this related back to the message of the programme, which was the future of the planet for our children and our Grandchildren.

He wants to have an impact on saving the planet for future generations.

Now that made me feel like my legacy ‘Being a fantastic Dad / partner” might be admirable but I could possibly be aiming slightly low. It has made me think deeper,  what else could my legacy be? What impact could I have?

At the end of the programme, Bear took me by surprise and asked to pray for Obama. I thought it was a humble and respectful thing to do and Bear earned, even more, respect from me by showing his faith – it was unexpected.

Have you ever thought about the legacy you want to leave, the impact you want to have? When will your actions start to create your legacy?

Now is a great time to begin the process, if you haven’t already, there is no time like the present!

Enjoy your week
