MM426

I had a call from Cloe (My Daughter) last week and she mentioned that she hadn’t received the MM for a couple of weeks and wondered why. I thought I was on top of things and there had been a couple of Bank holidays so I hadn’t missed any, but I had.

To be fair, I have had a lot on my mind and have been busy recently but that is no reason to stop doing things that, I believe should be done. I hope you have all enjoyed having one less email in your ‘inbox’ but I am now back on top of things and plan to keep it that way. ????

It was actually nice, and helpful, to be reminded about the commitments I have made and for someone to pull the ‘excuse rug’ from under me to get me back on track.

We all get busy and distracted by things in our lives and that can result in good habits falling by the wayside. It’s easy to stop doing the things we know we should do and I realised that the MM was not the only thing I’d let slip. My fitness regime has been very sporadic, and possibly at about 40% effort when I have done something, so that has also been given a shake and I am planning the weeks ahead.

I did recently go to Mallorca for 6 days cycling (Only 3 cycling days planned) and did run and swim a couple of times, so I shouldn’t be too hard on myself but I’ve been back a week and done nothing, during the week, since being back.

Getting things, in life, balanced is tough at times especially when you suddenly get a lot thrown at you. I was speaking to a group of people in a business that has, nearly, returned to a pre-pandemic “normal’ except they are even busier than before. With job losses, people leaving the business by choice and a multitude of CV-19 practises still being used, along side normal tasks, things are doubling up. If we are not careful we will have another boost in mental health related problems hitting all industries.

So, here are a few tips to remind you how to maintain your life balance:

  • Put your own mask on first – look after yourself before helping others
  • Be comfortable saying “No” to some things
  • Only ever work at 100% capacity for short periods of time – you need ‘down time’
  • Create space to re-energise – identify things that fill you with energy and plan them in
  • Be authentic – if you are not okay, tell someone and get support
  • If you are juggling too many things, put some things down.

It’s great to be back, thank you Cloe for the nudge ❤️
