I finally have my weekends back! The first time for a long time, I was really looking forward to the weekend. Over the past couple of years I have gone through peaks and troughs with work and, sometimes, I couldn’t tell you which day it was. They all merged into each other and it felt fairly confusing not to have a routine to follow.
I know I started exercising, going on beach walks and going for drives around the forest but it didn’t matter which day it was, I had nothing else to do! My work had dried up and my clients didn’t really know how CV-19 was going to impact them and their businesses, so my role became obsolete for a while.
At the moment, though, I am back to being really busy and the weekdays are full of meetings and workshop delivery. It’s put a routine, of sorts, back into my week. I still have more flexibility, am doing less travelling and spend most of my time working from home so it’s not exactly how it was, but I like the balance.
I do have a visit to Ireland planned and work in London to attend, in person, and I am looking forward to that side of the business growing again as I enjoy the social interaction with people. Having a contrast is important for me as it helps me appreciate more in life. I like having periods of being busy followed by some peace and quiet, which is why I was looking forward to the weekend. I had things that I wanted to do, somethings I had planned to do that I didn’t really want to do but the balance was perfect.
On Saturday, I went to the gym, watched some football, drove my Son around Bournemouth, met my Sister and Mum for a coffee and then watched some more football with a beer in hand. On Sunday I did some DIY in the house, hoovered and tidied up a bit, went to the gym again and then watched the football on TV – a great result for the neutrals!
So my weekends are back and I appreciate the time away from the computer and seeing my face on Teams / Zoom all day! The contrast, I have in my life, really sharpens the enjoyment of the different experiences.
How are you doing with getting back in to a routine and do you also ‘have your weekend back?’
